The Burghers of Calais
This is a detail of one sculpture in a set of six that comprise The Burghers of Calais by Auguste Rodin. It was photographed in Memorial Court of the Main Quad of Stanford University. I tried getting all six statues in the frame at once but discovered that by concentrating on only a portion of a single figure I was able to capture a far more dramatic image. The Burghers of Calais is part of the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Center for Visual Arts collection Stanford University. Memorial Court is open to the public 24/7.
