Foothills Park
This is one of my favorite places, 1,400 acres of paradise. Foothills Park offers a stunning view of the Silicon Valley. However the park isn’t without controversy. As you can see by the sign at the front gate it’s open to Palo Alto residents and their accompanied guests only. I have friends who live on the Stanford campus who feel that Stanford ID should qualify them as de facto Palo Alto residents; it doesn’t. But I’ll let you in on a little secret. I’ve never known the park rangers to check identification on weekdays. From Monday to Friday the booth at the front entrance in unmanned.
