Michio Kaku Quote

“One in 200 stars has habitable Earth-like planets surrounding it – in the galaxy, half a billion stars have Earth-like planets going around them – that’s huge, half a billion. So when we look at the night sky, it makes sense that someone is looking back at us.”

                                                                                                                  Michio Kaku

I’d ardently like to believe that Michio Kaku is correct and that someone, or something, is looking back at us.  The realization that humanity might be alone in the universe is a thought that I find absolutely terrifying.  Terrifying because if true it would mean that when humanity dies intelligence disappears not just on Earth but everywhere.  And if there was no one to enjoy the beauty of the cosmos; well what would be the point?  A universe without intellect is indistinguishable from no universe at all.
