Kellyanne Conway Blames Comedians and Atheists for Synagogue Massacre

The anti-religiosity in this country that is somehow in vogue and funny to make fun of anybody of faith, to constantly be making fun of people that express religion, the late, night comedians, the unfunny people on TV shows, it’s always anti-religious.  These people (Pittsburgh Synagogue shooting victims) were gunned down in their place of worship, as were the people in South Carolina several years ago.  And they were there because they’re people of faith, and it’s that faith that needs to bring us together. This is no time to be driving God out of the public square.

                                                                                      Kellyanne Conway

Dear Kellyanne, there are many Gods, which one do you feel is being driven from the public square?  The 9/11 hijackers worshiped one God, the Ku Klux Klan believes in another and Sinn Féin yet another.  The common denominator of these disparate groups is that they’re only too willing to resort to violence.  They all believe they have God on their side and they all believe they are doing His will.  An impartial observer from some distant planet would have no reason to conclude that religion is in any way a moderating influence.  It’s likely he’d surmise just the opposite.

Steven Weinberg famously said, “Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.”

A scathing criticism to be sure and perhaps unfounded.  But ask yourself this, what is more likely, that Cesar Sayoc was motivated to mail bombs to CNN by the words of Weinberg or by Donald Trump who says that the press is, “The true enemy of the people.”  You many not agree with atheists as is your right.  But atheists don’t see images of Stephen Hawking or Christopher Hitchens appearing in their Mexican food.
